Questa Norma tratta dell'identificazione e della classificazione dei luoghi dove sono presenti atmosfere esplosive dovute a polvere e strati di polvere combustibile, onde consentire un'adeguata valutazione delle sorgenti di accensione presenti in detti luoghi.
I principi di questa Norma possono anche essere seguiti nei casi in cui fibre combustibili o residui volanti combustibili possono causare un pericolo.
Questa Norma è destinata ad essere applicata dove può esserci un rischio dovuto alla presenza di atmosfere esplosive dovute a polvere o strati di polvere combustibile, in condizioni atmosferiche normali.
Essa non si applica a:

- luoghi minerari sotterranei;
- luoghi dove un rischio può manifestarsi a causa della presenza di miscele ibride;
- polveri di esplosivi che non richiedono per la combustione l'ossigeno presente nell'atmosfera;
- oppure a sostanze piroforiche,
- guasti catastrofici che superano il concetto di anormalità trattato nella presente Norma;
- ogni rischio derivante dell'emissione di gas infiammabili o tossici dalla polvere.

Questa Norma non prende in considerazione gli effetti del danno conseguente un incendio o un'esplosione.
NOTA DI AGGIORNAMENTO
La presente Norma é annullata e sostituita dalla Nuova edizione, CEI EN 60079-10-2:2015-11 (CEI 31-88) tuttavia rimane applicabile fino al 20-02-2018.

ICS

International Classification for Standards (ICS) is an international classification system for technical standards.

The ICS is a hierarchical classification organized on three levels.

Level 1 covers the main fields of activity in standardization, e.g. road vehicle engineering, agriculture, metallurgy.

Each field has a two-digit notation, e.g.

  43    Road Vehicle Engineering

The main fields are subdivided into groups (level 2). The notation of a group consists of the field notation and a three-digit group number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040    Road vehicle systems

Some groups are further divided into sub-groups (level 3). The notation of a sub-group consists of the group notation and a two-digit number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040.20 Lighting, signaling and warning devices
