Questa Norma specifica le prescrizioni generali e di sicurezza per le unità di alimentazione di lampada destinate all'impiego con alimentazioni in c.c. fino a 250 V e/o alimentazioni in c.a. fino a 1 000 V a 50 Hz
o 60 Hz.
Le principali modifiche tecniche introdotte da questa nuova edizione rispetto alla precedente riguardano:
- l'aggiunta di prescrizioni di marcatura;
- l'aggiunta di prescrizioni per le distanze di isolamento superficiali e in aria, per le tensioni di servizio con frequenze di funzionamento fino a 30 kHz, per le tensioni di servizio con frequenze di funzionamento superiori a 30 kHz, per l'isolamento principale, supplementare e rinforzato, per l'isolamento tra i circuiti, per le unità di alimentazione rivestite e riempite;
- la modifica delle definizioni di SELV e FELV; la modifica dello schema che mostra le diverse prescrizioni relative alla classificazione e all'isolamento dell'unità di alimentazione;
- l'estensione del campo di applicazione;
- il nuovo Allegato A - prova per stabilire se una parte attiva è una parte in tensione che può causare una scossa elettrica;
- il nuovo Allegato M - distanze di isolamento superficiali e in aria per unità di alimentazione in cui può essere richiesto un grado elevato di disponibilità (categoria di tenuta all'impulso III);
- il nuovo Allegato P - distanze di isolamento superficiali e in aria e distanze attraverso l'isolamento (DTI) per unità di alimentazione di lampada che sono protette contro l'inquinamento mediante l'uso di rivestimento o riempimento.
La Norma in oggetto sostituisce completamente la Norma CEI EN 61347-1:2009-01, che rimane applicabile fino al 26-03-2018.
Questa Norma viene pubblicata dal CEI in una prima fase nella sola lingua inglese, per consentirne l'immediato utilizzo da parte degli utenti interessati, nel rispetto della data di pubblicazione fissata dagli Enti Normatori internazionali.
Successivamente il CEI pubblicherà, in un nuovo fascicolo, la stessa Norma in versione italiano-inglese; tale nuova versione avrà la stessa validità della presente.
La presente Norma recepisce il testo originale inglese della Pubblicazione IEC.

International Classification for Standards (ICS) is an international classification system for technical standards.

The ICS is a hierarchical classification organized on three levels.

Level 1 covers the main fields of activity in standardization, e.g. road vehicle engineering, agriculture, metallurgy.

Each field has a two-digit notation, e.g.

  43    Road Vehicle Engineering

The main fields are subdivided into groups (level 2). The notation of a group consists of the field notation and a three-digit group number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040    Road vehicle systems

Some groups are further divided into sub-groups (level 3). The notation of a sub-group consists of the group notation and a two-digit number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040.20 Lighting, signaling and warning devices
