La presente Norma si applica alle apparecchiature elettriche protette mediante custodie e con limitazione della temperatura superficiale, destinate ad essere utilizzate in atmosfera esplosiva per la presenza di polvere combustibile. Le prescrizioni di questa norma integrano quelle della Norma EN/IEC 60079-0.
La presente Norma non si applica alle polveri di sostanze esplosive né per le apparecchiature utilizzate nelle miniere.
La Norma sostituisce la Norma CEI EN 61241-1:2006-06 che rimane applicabile fino al 01-10-2012 e, rispetto ad essa, presenta le seguenti modifiche principali:
- Combinazione delle pratiche A e B in una sola pratica.
- Introduzione dei livelli di protezione ta, tb, tc.
- Prove termiche.
- Introduzione di una prova di pressione prima della prova di IP.
- Alcune restrizioni per il livello di protezione ta.
- Modifiche della prova IP 6X per il livello di protezione ta.
- Obbligo della prova termica dello strato di polvere per il livello di protezione ta.
L'Allegato ZZ della presente Norma soddisfa i requisiti essenziali della Direttiva 94/9/CE.
La presente Norma riporta il testo in inglese e italiano della EN 60079-31; rispetto al precedente fascicolo n. 10402E di maggio 2010, essa contiene la traduzione completa della EN sopra indicata.
La presente Norma é annullata e sostituita dalla Nuova edizione, CEI EN 60079-31:2014-12 (CEI 31-89), tuttavia rimane applicabile fino al 1-01-2017.

ICS

International Classification for Standards (ICS) is an international classification system for technical standards.

The ICS is a hierarchical classification organized on three levels.

Level 1 covers the main fields of activity in standardization, e.g. road vehicle engineering, agriculture, metallurgy.

Each field has a two-digit notation, e.g.

  43    Road Vehicle Engineering

The main fields are subdivided into groups (level 2). The notation of a group consists of the field notation and a three-digit group number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040    Road vehicle systems

Some groups are further divided into sub-groups (level 3). The notation of a sub-group consists of the group notation and a two-digit number, separated by a point, e.g.

  43.040.20 Lighting, signaling and warning devices
